You have heard of Search Engine Optimization. It’s become a buzz word ovr the last few years. But what is it? And more importantly, why are people telling you to include SEO in your digital marketing strategy? Search Engine Optimization helps your website show up on Google. Roger: Today we’re podcast to talk to business owners about SEO search engine optimization John what is it, and what can I do for you guys in the business.

John: exactly and today this is very a hot topic, right? Like how can you improve your ranking on Google so that people who are always in plane looking for you throughout the entire buyer journey if its information, navigational ready to buy, what term are they typing in and when they are searching for you how do you appear higher up organically which is the non-paid section of Google so that when people are ready they’ll click on your website and hopefully that will generate a lead for your business.

Roger: So the deal is SEO stands for search optimization is really so that your business website appears well for a Google search, a Bing search or Yahoo search really cool is a little support one at least but that’s what SEO stands for so in terms of what it can do if your businesses you say John I guess things like traffic right we know today that will over 90 percent of people in North America when they’re ready to buy when they need something they’re searching for something they go to google.

John: Exactly

Roger: So, Imagine what can it do for your business if you’re on page one.

John: Exactly I think the biggest thing for having a website is generating more traffic so that you become more visible right? It’s no longer building yet a website and they will come it’s like a bricks and mortar, a store if you build on storefront right? without signage without a good location without a marketing budget getting amplifying the message on there how do people know that you exist right? so its very similar to having a website you need to ensure that your website is properly optimized with over 200 SEO factors so that when people are searching you actually appear on that first page

Roger: and those factors you speak of the Turner factors are what Google uses as a criteria to who gets to get ranked in search results higher so if you don’t need those criteria John or if you do, you’ll move up higher and higher but if you do not answer these particular criteria that’s why other businesses are way back on the search result

John: yeah, if there’s a lot of things to consider right and there’s always going to be a lot of people who claim to rank websites quicker than others I always look at it like you have to compare yourself to your meet competitors which the services that you really want to go after right? and see what they are doing and what you have to do is just to do it a little bit better right? so if there’s a lot of factors there’s a lot of areas in terms of your website such as content, the proper HTML tags, the proper optimizing issues of images, the speed of your website there’s so many different factors as well as off-page factors such as link building, Authority building you know how more people talk about you share what you kind of review you there’s a lot of other signals right and this all please a part of how you rank position yourself on Google

Roger: so the essence is this is what Google would do for you meet all the criteria you’re going to get higher ranking but it is more exposure, more traffic, customers that are more potential customers because they’re ready to buy or they’re searching for services or products that you have to offer so that’s what SEO and that’s what you know in terms of ranking well will do for your business

John: yeah, you have to remember also that building Authority position yourself as the expert is so critical because when someone lands on your website they want to be met with what the content has to match what the search term was right so making sure that- that is the user intent making sure that your position very well but also the conversion rate of the website must also be a play of very large role right? the other thing is really focus on local first before you dominate the organic which is national or regional level right? dominate your whole market really own it before you start expanding to want to dominate everywhere else and that’s what we do here really help business owners achieve success but understanding who they are, who they want to be and where do they want to go right? and with that in telling information we can really buy them in position and you know we’re with their website to position them so that they can target and attract their ideal type of clientele the personas and they’re going after so that we can generate them the most return on invested revenue sales through their website.

John: exactly and one other thing I do want to mention is the search engine today is very similar to how Yellows Pages was 25 years ago 20 years ago where someone is ready if the user your potential customers are ready to buy they will see you which means they are in control right? and the term we use while working at Yellow Pages was a directive form of advertising right? so someone that’s actually in play ready to buy which means they’re so far along that buying cycle when they hit your website then they’re ready to buy them most like going to shout out someone testimonials reviews and call you up right for pricing versus any other form of advertising which was similar to the flyers newspapers but today social media right? Paying ads and email marketing everything that is pushed at you means it’s more of a shotgun approach right? you’re going to have to hit way more people to find people that might be in play at a given time moment enjoying while search engines allow for you to appear when someone’s actually in play

Roger: isn’t it that you cant ask for more than that is to have your message in front of someone who is in the in play needs that service whatever that services are the product they’re looking for on Google today so it makes perfect sense that as you say John the other forms of advertising or sort of push right? you’re pushing a message to but the Google’s of poll meaning you’re pulling them in when they’re ready indeed your products

John: yes under saying that by your journey right and how does a website play for that like service pages could be ready when people are ready transactional type of queries versus the blog could be informational so you need to educate people further and might take a little bit longer but when they’re ready then they will actually reach out to you so yeah it’s like search engine optimization we feel like it’s the best and highest return on your investment In terms of any form of advertising today that will change in a couple years ten years twenty but as opposed as today we feel this is the most important aspect of running a business in terms of marketing and advertising and where should you invest your dollars in terms of attracting the most ideal type of clients for your business.
